CareNet Pregnancy Center - volunteer opportunities

CareNet’s mission is to promote a culture of life within our society in order to serve people facing unplanned pregnancies and related issues.

If you are looking for a way to help and get involved with the CareNet Pregnancy Center, please join us by supporting our annual fund-raising event at MCC through the Baby Bottle Benefit this March. We could use your help distributing and/or collecting the bottles at the Outreach kiosk on the following dates: March 6, March 13 & March 20.  Also, please mark your calendars and plan to participate in the Walk for Life in Veteran’s Park on May 7th. If you would like more information on how to get involved or on the centers, please email Lisa Shaughnessy at lisa.shaughnessy@gmail.com.

English for New Americans - local PEACE opportunity

Do you have 2 hours a week to help Manchester’s newest arrivals learn English?

Volunteers are needed to work with small groups of refugees and immigrants as they learn and practice English. All planning and preparation done by the classroom teachers!

Classes take place at:

English for New Americans (ENA)
First Congregational Church
508 Union St. (corner of Union and Hanover)
Manchester, NH 03104

  • Mornings 9:00-11:00AM or
  • Afternoons 12:30-2:30PM or
  • Evenings 6:00-8:00PM

It’s a great way to help out and learn about other cultures at the same time!

It’s fun!  It’s rewarding!  The students love the help and our volunteers love the students!

To volunteer, email Sue Corby at SCorby@Anselm.edu or call her at 361-2649 for more information.

Thank you from New Horizons - and a tour invitation!

Dear Manchester Christian Church,

Thank your for your recent donation of new blankets, sheets and towels to New Horizons for New Hampshire! Your generosity came at a perfect time for us - when we were busy meeting the holiday and cold weather needs of the many people who depend on us. We truly appreciate that you choose to support New Horizons.

We invite you to come and take a guided tour of New Horizons and see firsthand the work being done with your support. Tours are generally held on the second Thursday of the month. Our next tour is on Thursday, February 10th at noon. There is no need to RSVP.

New Horizons and Angie’s Shelter for Women continue to meet the immediate needs of food and shelter while also working with clients to help them achieve self-sufficiency. Your support is an important of this work.

Warmly,

Mary Silva
Food Service Manager

Teens in foster care - provide a monthly meal!

Bethany Christian Services is the nation’s largest adoption agency and also cares for women facing unplanned pregnancies and orphans living on five continents. They have received the following request from the Division of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF).
_______________________________________________________________________

The teens in foster care have a Youth Advisory Board made up of about 10 youths that meet and develop projects, work with staff to change practice, and join together as youth in care. On the third Wednesday of every month (except for March, June, September and December) this group of teens meets in Manchester and needs a meal provided for them.

If you are someone with a heart for teens in foster care, this is a great opportunity to serve! For more information, email peace@manchesterchristian.com.
