Learn To Read - Host home needed

This summer New England Brace Company has agreed to arrange for a new leg for a young handicapped Cambodian man. He will also receive job training in the field of prothesis making and repair, which is a great opportunity for him.

Learn To Read (LTR) is looking for a host home for this young man. At this time his arrival date is not known but when he arrives he would need to be in the United States for several months. Ideally LTR is hoping to find a family with an extra room in the Manchester area as all of the activities would be centered around the Eliot Hospital and New England Brace, which is located across the street from the hospital.

Please email Cheryl at learntoreadmcl@gmail.com if you are able to assist this young man or if you have questions.

Financial Literacy: Develop Lesson Plans to Assist Your Student with Money/Budget Management

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
5:30pm - 7:30pm
Hunt Room, Manchester City Library

Money, paychecks and what to do with them can be one of the most important decisions we have to make. It can also be one of the scariest…especially for those just learning to read and trying to understand the American system.  Come and learn ways to help your students with financial literacy.

Lesson planning will focus on:

  1. Got a check…Now what?
  2. Easy ways to track daily spending
  3. Using “cash flow” tools
  4. Envisioning the future

Join us and facilitator, Danielle Dillaway to learn how this program can benefit your student!

Please RSVP by February 15th by contacting Learn To Read at 624-6550 x330 or learntoread@gmail.com.
